If Truth Be Not Diffused, Error Will Be
Featured Scribbles from desiringGod.org
Almost in all life’s instances, we read. It has been the most important step in understanding things, directions and even God’s word. Reading starts the digestion process in our mind. I’d like to share this article from desiringGod’s blog on the importance of reading books especially God’s word.
- Why did the Gutenberg Press change the entire known world in one year?
- Why did Tyndale burn at the stake because he printed the Bible in English?
- Why do we still buy books by writers from 500 years ago?
- Why do 95% of all travelers put a book in their carry-on to read on an airplane?
- Why have we created Kindles, Nooks, and iPads to read more books
The Sanctifying Power of Books
[I do not] want to leave the impression that reading many books is important. Reading great books and reading them well is what is important. Meditative reading, reading which stops and ponders, reading which sees deep into reality – that is the kind of reading which profits. That kind of reading should never end for you. Growth and stimulation and transformation will never end for you. You will be in the company of the greatest minds and hearts for the rest of your life, and you will become their peers if you read for understanding and for life. Read full post here →

Thank you for meeting me here! I purposely created this blog to share the joy I have found in Jesus Christ and in living for Him everyday. Life may not give you enough reasons to smile but God does. You can find more of that

Reading for understanding and for life—yes, we should veritably bury ourselves in this type of deeply meditative reading as pictured with the young man under a mountain of books pictured here. Very helpful illustration to drive the point home. Thank you.
Thanks too Granbee for your additional insights. God bless
Especially when I read the Bible, God grants me wisdom and strength to move on in my daily life. Reading other Christian books (like devotionals) can also help us grow spiritually. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely! God never fails to express Himself to us through His word. Thanks my friend!
What a way to look upon reading! I like that! Thanks for sending this our way.
It was a blessing to feature this Jeanne, thanks for joining me
“The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man; NOTHING ELSE THAT HE BUILDS EVER LASTS. Monuments fall; nations perish; civilizations grow old and die out. After an era of darkness, new races build others; BUT IN THE WORLD OF BOOKS ARE VOLUMES THAT LIVE ON STILL AS YOUNG AND FRESH AS THE DAY THEY WERE WRITTEN, still telling men’s hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead.”
- Clarence Day
Thanks my friend! A quote worthy to remember all the time
God bless!

Hi, Joyce,
Thanks for following Salt and Light, but I don’t post there anymore. A year ago, I consolidated eight blogs so that my creation content is now on http://thesovereign.wordpress.com/.
Thanks for following http://equipping4eministry.wordpress.com/, too.
My third blog is http://mikeandsus.org/.
Three is easier than eight!
Keep up the good content!
Hello Sus,
Thanks so much and I appreciate your update. I went to your active site and hit the ”follow” button to keep myself on your posts. Your other blog is very helpful to me (and I’m sure to others as well) who has been working in the Lord’s ministry.
God bless!
